How To Do a Lip Dub At Your School: (Los Angeles Dj serving Burbank, Hollywood, Glendale, Pasadena, and Long Beach) (Bay Area Dj serving San Jose, Sunnyvale, Livermore, Palo Alto, and Morgan Hill)

Setting up a lip dub involves a lot of planning and total buy in from the school. It would be good if the school has an advisory or homeroom so they can practice their part. First thing first, they need to select a few songs that are hip and clean as can be. Once those songs are selected then each class will have a portion of the song they are responsible for. Classes practice their part and they dress the part. Its good to do a test run so student know how to pace their part of the song.

We recommend a dj setting up audio gear so music can be heart through the school. Depending on how big the school is I would recommend 4 to 6 speakers spread out to cover more ground. Make sure the wires are taped up or where no one can trip because there are students everywhere doing dance routines and not really paying attention on where they step. Playing it through the intercom will sound really bad. Best to do 2 to 3 takes of each song so it can be cut and pasted the parts that will be used. Once its recorded then they dub over the audio with the actual song so it sounds clean.

This is a whole school activity and kids can be kids. They can make up dance routines or they can do silly things that they will always remember. Build some culture in your school and have Black and White Affair Dj do your audio for your lip dub event.

Santa Cruz Prom for a San Jose High School: (Bay Area Dj Serving San Jose, Palo Alto, Sunnyvale, Gilroy and Morgan Hill)

Santa Cruz Prom for a San Jose High School: (Bay Area Dj Serving San Jose, Palo Alto, Sunnyvale, Gilroy and Morgan Hill)

We did homecoming for Independence in the fall and we were called to do their prom. They choose a nice venue in Santa Cruz. During homecoming they had a boatload of energy so we were excited to do their  prom. As they did before they gave us a lot of good hits on their playlist so it was easy to get their party going. The venue was called the Coconut Grove. They   had a place for dancing and a play to play video games. The students had to a chance to play some video arcade or go dancing with their friends.

Its nice to venture outside of the bay area to try different nice spots. There are so many places to chose from and this venue was very professional that they contacted me before to give me a number to call and also give us information on how to load.

It is prom season so go to a dj company that knows high school music. This is prom number 1 of 4 this season and we are ready for them. Call Bwadj.com for your epic high school event.

Doing Vinyl Dj Sets Now (Bay Area Djs serving San Jose, Palo Alto, Sunnyvale, Morgan Hill and Gilroy) (Los Angeles Dj serving Hollywood, Burbank, Glendale, Universal City, Long Beach, and Brea)

Long gone are the days that all the djs do vinyl. Only a few actually do vinyl. If you went down on yelp and called 20 djs then you may get one who plays vinyl or they know of a dj that does that. It is very rare these days. Why is it so rare? Its rare since vinyl turntables are heavy and all the records you have to carry are heavy. Plus also with digital files that are so cheap a dj can spend a whole lot less on music than djs who purchase vinyl. All those djs back in the 80s 90s and 00s mostly sold their vinyl collection since they were gathering dust and had no use for it since they could get digital files that take way less space.

A few of us kept our collections. Some of use will never part with them due to the value that vinyl had in our lives. Seems like now there is a comeback with vinyl. People are going to places to listen to vinyl and looking for vinyl djs. Older music is making a comeback thanks to Tic Tok which is playing older hits that are revitalizing old songs so the younger folks are getting into it. I do notice it with the high school dances that there are less new songs suggested while the older ones fill the lists.

The cool thing about vinyl sets are they are rare and really a lost art. Please call Bwadj for your vinyl dj needs.

Vinyl Djs are not as common as they were years ago! (Bay Area Dj serving San Jose, Morgan Hill, Palo Alto, Sunnyvale, and Gilroy) (Los Angeles Dj Serving Burbank, Hollywood, Long Beach and Hollywood)

Vinyl Djs are not as common as they were years ago! (Bay Area Dj serving San Jose, Morgan Hill, Palo Alto, Sunnyvale, and Gilroy)

With technology it has become very easy to become a dj. Djs do not need to carry milk crates of heavy records to an event. Now they can carry usb sticks or laptops with so much music. Newer djs never had the struggle of carrying 6 boxes of records upstairs to a venue and the worry of forgetting their needles!

Cost is a big difference. With digital djing, djs can get libraries of music by joining digital record pools. When djs in the late 90s and early 00s had to get music they had to go to stores to find tracks. Sometimes they would have to spend 50 to 300 dollars in one shopping trip.

The skills of mixing vinyl compared to mixing digitally is way different. Mixing digitally can be taught pretty quickly and you can use digital tracks that make it easy to mix and there are ways to automatically sync the beat so they are the same speed. With vinyl you have to mix by ear and it’s a more difficult skill to learn.

You can call random 20 djs to do a digital mixing and all of them could do it. But if you called the same 20 djs to do a vinyl set then maybe 1 out of the 20 may know someone who does it. It is not easy and most old school djs sold their collection. But a few still kept their collections and still want to share their love for vinyl with the world. Give Black and White Affair to do your vinyl event.

How to  Throw a Proper High School Event with Different California Students: Santa Clara Marriot High School Dance: Bay Area Dj Serving San Jose, Santa Clara, and Morgan Hill

We have been fortunate to play for the Decathalon After Party the past two years. Decathalon students are ones from across California who compete in educational competitions. They spend a lot of time studying for these competitions that sometimes they got to let loose. We have been fortunate to be the dj for them the last two years. Smart kids and another other kind of kid if you play good music then they are going to dance. Most of the times we get a playlist to play but this time we did not since students were too busy studying but we still made party happen.

We have done a lot of homecomings and we are set to do a lot of proms this year so our high school playlist is pretty solid. We do play pop and hip hop and some old school tracks to set the vibe for the night. What we notice is a lot of tracks that were popular like 10 years ago are coming back. At a dance you have to be able to read the crowd and know how long to play track before it hurts the dance floor. If the song isn’t getting the proper attention then it would be best to try a different song that will build excitement. Appreciate the Decathalon kids that brought the energy to the party and we will see you next you. Remember to call Black and White Affair for your high school events.

How to Make the Most of Your Wedding Gift Funds: A Guide to Responsible Spending

Your wedding day is one of the most memorable and significant occasions in your life. As you celebrate this momentous occasion with family and friends, it is common to receive generous wedding gifts from loved ones. While many couples may be tempted to splurge on extravagant purchases, it is important to consider responsible ways to allocate these funds to benefit your future together. Read on for some insights from Black and White Affair DJ Services.

Invest In Affordable Keepsakes

A video book commemorating your wedding and honeymoon is a great way to document the memories. You'll treasure it forever, plus it's less expensive than printing off all of your photos.

Spend Some on Your Honeymoon

One of the best ways to spend some of your gift money is on a honeymoon. The memories you create on this trip will last a lifetime, and it is an opportunity for you and your spouse to relax and enjoy each other's company after the stress of wedding planning. Consider a destination that holds special meaning to both of you or a place that you have always wanted to visit.

Visiting Disney World could be a highlight, offering both fun and a chance to unwind in a magical setting. To ensure your trip is financially savvy, consulting online guides and resources on enjoying Disney World on a budget is essential, helping you make the most of your gift money without overspending.

Invest in Your Education

Investing your wedding money in education is a wise and forward-thinking choice, especially when considering the long-term benefits it can bring to your career. For instance, by pursuing a psychology degree online (this deserves a look), you're not just enhancing your qualifications but also gaining a deeper understanding of the cognitive and affective processes that drive human behavior. This knowledge is invaluable for anyone aspiring to support and help those in need.

The flexibility of online degree programs is a significant advantage, allowing you to maintain full-time employment while keeping up with your studies. This balance ensures that you can apply your learning in real-time, enriching both your professional and academic experiences. Such an investment in your education is a testament to your commitment to personal growth and professional advancement, paving the way for a fulfilling career in psychology.

Pay Off Student Loans

Alternatively, for those who have student loan debt, paying off a portion or the entire balance can provide a fresh financial start for the couple. With the average student loan debt at around $40,000 according to College Raptor, allocating a portion of your gift funds to pay off this debt can help you save money on interest over time and reduce your monthly expenses.

Start a Long-Term Investment Account

Opening a long-term investment account, such as stocks or mutual funds, can help grow your nest egg for the future. Investing early in life can lead to significant returns, and it's never too early to start planning for your long-term financial security. Bankrate suggests working with a financial planner to help guide your investment decisions.

Put a Down Payment on a Home

If you're planning to purchase a home, putting your gift money toward a down payment can help you start building your life together. Homeownership is a significant financial investment and a long-term commitment, so be sure to consider all the costs associated with purchasing and maintaining a home, including closing costs and emergency repairs.

Donate to Your Favorite Charity

Allocating some of your gift funds to a charitable cause can make a meaningful impact on those in need. Consider causes that are important to both of you, whether it be supporting education, healthcare, or the environment. Donating is not only a responsible way to allocate your funds, but it can also bring you joy and fulfillment.

Open Your Own Business

Starting your own business can be a fulfilling and financially rewarding endeavor. Consider investing in your future by starting your own business. You can structure it as an LLC to protect your personal assets from any potential legal liabilities. When registering, you’ll need to name a registered agent and form an operating agreement. Starting a business together can also strengthen your relationship and provide you with greater financial freedom.

Upgrade Household Items Like Appliances

Upgrading essential household items such as appliances is not only a practical way to spend your gift funds, but it's also an environmentally friendly choice. By investing in new, energy-efficient appliances, you can reduce your carbon footprint while improving the functionality and appearance of your home. Plus, the long-term savings on utility bills can help offset the initial cost of the upgrades.

Save Up for a New Car

If you have a goal to purchase a new car in the near future, it's essential to plan ahead and save up the necessary funds. One way to do that is by setting aside some of your gift money. With a new car, you can enjoy the convenience and safety that comes with a reliable vehicle, especially if you have a long commute or young children.

There are countless ways to responsibly allocate your wedding gift funds. Whether you choose to buy a home, start a business, donate to a good cause, or simply enjoy a romantic honeymoon, be sure to consider what will benefit you and your spouse in the long run. By making wise financial decisions early on, you can pave the way for a successful and fulfilling life together.

Another High School  Dance (Bay Area Dj serving San Jose, Campbell, Livermore, Morgan Hill and Gilroy)

Last year we got the honor to do silent disco and hold down the main room for prom for Westmont. Loved the fact that people could get down in the main room and if they wanted fresh air then they could have put on headphones and be part of the silent disco. Then this year they asked us to do their Homecoming which was a lot of fun. Then they asked if we can do their prom and we of course are excited to be a part of it. Their homecoming playlist was so reassuring. They wanted the classics and all if it was songs from long ago. Lots of fun music on their list and I did see a lot of energy on the dance floor so we are looking forward again to be part of their night.

They have the   right ingredients for a fun night. A) They created a fun playlist with the jams.  B)  They invited young folks who really want to have a good time C) They choose us again to provide the soundtrack for their evening. We are very appreciative of Westmont   to agree to have us playing music for their high school. There are so many  dj’s   out there in  the bay area but we take pride in  doing events  for high  schooners. It’s  all about  finding out what they want to  hear and   knowing  how   much  of  the song  we should play.

Honor Roll Ceremony High School Koreatown Los Angeles ( Los Angeles Dj serving Burbank, Universal, Glendale, Valley Village and Hollywood)

We need to set up at a field. No problem. We will have around 500 people. No problem. We need four speakers spread out in the field with power spread out also. No problem. Also we want music people can jive too. No problem.

We had an honor roll celebration recently and I had to provide the sound. First and foremost,  I had to check the power sources to make sure they worked since it is a field. Made sure I ordered 4 50 foot extension cords and 50 foot speaker cables. Wanted to spread out the speakers to cover more ground and would not have to blast the volume so it would be too loud for those who are close to the speaker.

I set up one wireless microphone with another on stand by with another wired microphone on backup. Parents had a full day of work and wanted to hear their child’s name loudly on the pa system.

I made sure the playlist was as festive as can be. You need to know your audience.  The majority of the audience was latinos so we went with 90 percent latin music but I did include crossover music and some American classics. A lot of djs are afraid to play non American music because they want to be safe. But when you do play the cumbias or Mexican music people deeply appreciate it.

Outside events you have many factors to deal with but it has to be done by a professional sound guy to make sure it is done right. Contact Black and White Affair to make sure your graduation or outside event is done right.
