Weddings Through the Ages: A Look at How We Do It Now Versus Then (Bay Area Dj Serving San Jose, Morgan Hill, Gilroy and  Sunnyvale) (Los Angeles Dj serving Burbank,) (Socal dj serving San Diego)

Weddings have changed a lot over the years. From the length of engagement to the ceremony and reception details, there's no doubt that what was considered "traditional" in past generations has evolved significantly. But how, exactly? Let's take a look back at weddings then and now to get an idea of how much they've changed.

The Dresses

The classic white wedding dress is still going strong today, but it wasn't always seen as "traditional." In fact, long before Queen Victoria popularized white gowns for her 1840 wedding ceremony, brides wore any number of colors – red, green, yellow – or even shades that would be considered black today! Nowadays, brides are taking more risks with their fashion choices than ever before; wearing bold colors and non-traditional silhouettes or even two piece ensembles.

The Ceremony

Today's ceremonies tend to be more intimate affairs compared to weddings of the past. Long gone are the days when couples invited every single person they knew to witness their vows—now it's all about making sure everyone who attends is there because they truly want to be (and not just because they were invited). Additionally, many couples now choose to write their own vows rather than recite traditional ones; a trend that didn't become popular until relatively recently!

The Reception

Modern receptions have come a long way from the stuffy sit-down dinners of old. Couples nowadays prefer more relaxed celebrations with food trucks or buffets instead of assigned seating and entrees served on plates. Also common are interactive experiences like photo booths and lawn games that keep guests entertained throughout the night. And don't forget about those signature cocktails! It wouldn't be a modern wedding without them!

It's clear that weddings have changed quite a bit over the decades! From dresses and decor to ceremony traditions and receptions themselves, what was once considered "traditional" has been replaced by something new and exciting for couples wanting to make their big day unique. Whether you're planning your own nuptials or attending someone else's celebration, it's interesting to look back at how far we've come in terms of wedding customs—and where we may go in the future!

What’s the Difference Between a Professional DJ and Your Friend’s “DJ Set”? (Bay Area Dj Serving San Jose, Morgan Hill, Gilroy) (Los Angeles Dj serving Burbank) (Socal dj serving San Diego)

When you’re planning a party, there are so many decisions to make. One of the most important is music. You could just put on some tunes from your own phone or laptop, but that might not be enough to get everyone dancing. Or, you could have a friend spin some records for you as a gift—but why settle for amateur night when you can hire a professional DJ? Let’s look at what sets a professional DJ apart from your friend who just happens to have some speakers and an iTunes playlist.

Quality of Music

Your well-meaning friend might think they know all the latest hits and their favorite dance classics, but will their song selection really bring the house down? A professional disc jockey has access to tons of music and knows how to mix it in such a way that keeps people up on their feet all night long. Plus, they know how to read the crowd and adjust their set accordingly. If people aren’t responding to one type of music, they can switch up their tracks quickly in order to keep everyone engaged with the music.

Equipment

The biggest difference between your friend and an experienced DJ is probably in terms of equipment. Sure, your buddy may have been able to hook up his laptop and speakers – but that kind of setup won’t create an atmosphere like you'd get with professional sound and lighting equipment run by someone who knows what they're doing! A successful event requires more than just playing some tracks at random; it requires someone who knows how to work the equipment in order to create an unforgettable experience for guests.

When it comes time for your next event, don't skimp on quality by relying on your friends' "shower DJ set" – invest in a real pro! Hiring a professional disc jockey means more than just great sound; it also means top-notch lighting, experienced personnel who know exactly how to work the gear, and best of all - peace of mind knowing that everything will go smoothly come showtime! With all these benefits at hand, why wouldn't you choose a pro over an amateur? After all, this isn't just any occasion – it's yours! Don't settle for anything less than perfect – hire yourself a real pro today! Call Black and White Affair to be your pro dj!

Hits of the night include as it was by Harry Styles, Party in the USA by Miley Cyrus (this songs always seems to pop off, Flowers is also getting pretty popular now), Payaso del Rodeo by Caballo Dorado never fails, Cha Cha Slide, Baby Shark (I know  we did it and we will do it again!), and last but not least , the night ended with one  Bad Bunnies biggest hits, Titi me Pregunto . Parents danced with their children the whole night up until the music ended!

Davis Middle was a small event and their first dance since the pandemic. Kids were shy at the beginning and were  just sitting down and standing to the side, but once some trending songs like Vamp Anthem by Playboy Carti, Bloody Mary by Lady Gaga( was used in the show “Wednesday”) , Watermelon Sugar by Harry Styles , and a twist of Latino heritage with Payaso del Rodeo by Caballo Dorado, kids couldn’t not help it but to stand up move around , dance, shout, and even come up and request other popular hits!

Real Events: Hollister Weddings: (Bay area dj serving Hollister, Gilroy, Morgan Hill and San Jose)

We did a beautiful back yard wedding in Hollister which had a beatiful view of the country side. We were able to get pages of Country hits and we did mostly country the whole night with some classics thrown in the mix. During cocktail and dinner hour we did lots of country. The biggest requests had to be Morgan Wallet As the night progressed bellies full of food and glasses full of wine., Guest started getting eager for the dance portion of the night. After some emotional speeches, we let it whip with some top 40, classic funky  hits from 70s and 80s, Hits of the night included Too hot by Kool and the Gang ,Cupid shuffle by Cupid, September by Earth Wind and Fire and slow song of the night was  Waiting for a Girl like You by Foreigner. The night kept going and people danced for the last 2 hours that remained at the event non stop, up until the last minute that we had to go! Glad we could be part of such a beautiful night full of fun memories!

What made it magical was the bride and groom. They made the party happen with their energy and their ability to host a fun party.

The Art of Creating A Playlist For Your Event (Bay Area Dj Serving San Jose, Morgan Hill, Gilroy and  Sunnyvale) (Los Angeles Dj serving Burbank, and Glendale) (Socal dj serving San Diego)

Crafting the perfect playlist for your event is both an art and a science. It can be tricky to get just the right mix of songs that will keep your guests engaged, entertained, and dancing. But with some planning and careful consideration of genre-specific tracks, you can create a dynamic playlist that will deliver the ultimate experience for everyone.

Planning the Structure of Your Playlist

The first step in creating a great playlist is to plan out the overall structure. Start by creating sections based on genre or vibe, like Pop & Dance, Electronic & House, Hip Hop & R&B, and Classics & Throwbacks. This will help you differentiate between each part of the night for your guests. Once you have these sections established, you can choose specific tracks to fit into each one. Make sure to pay attention to which genres are more popular with your crowd so you know what type of music they’ll be most likely to dance to. This way you can easily choose a few bangers from those genres to start off the night with a bang! Make sure you don’t use all your bangers so early. It is good to build it up. It does not make sense to  put all your songs right away  before everyone has arrived.

Break Times & Interludes

I went to a dance  to  chaperone  and the  dj  actually took a   break. That totally killed the vibe. As a professional dj, the show must go on. Most of the time, the music is on a  playlist so  no breaks are needed.

Creating a playlist for your event should be an enjoyable journey where you get to showcase your DJing skills and delight guests with tunes they love. With some careful planning and an eye towards genre-specific tracks, you can create an unforgettable experience that will have everyone jumping up from their seats and grooving all night long! So go ahead - get creative and make that party playlist shine!

Elementary School Dances - A Blast from the Past! (Bay Area Dj Serving San Jose, Morgan Hill, Gilroy and  Sunnyvale) (Los Angeles Dj serving Burbank, and Pasadena) (Socal dj serving San Diego)

Let's jump back in time to when we were kids, sitting in a big circle at an elementary school dance. The music was loud and everyone was singing along, bouncing up and down in time to the beat. It was a blast! For many of us, those memories still remain fresh today. So let's take a trip down memory lane and explore what made elementary school dances so special.

The Music

The music that played at elementary school dances ranged from classic hits like "YMCA" to the newest pop songs. It didn't matter which era the song was from; everyone knew all the words and danced their hearts out. We would sing along with our friends, jumping around and having fun. Even now, when we hear these songs playing on the radio or at a party, it brings us right back to those days of dancing with our friends.

The Games

In between songs, there were always some fun games like Musical Chairs or Freeze Dance. Everyone would gather around while the DJ called out instructions for how to play each game. Everyone loved joining in on these games because it gave us a chance to let loose and show off our creative moves! We also got to make new friends as we competed against one another in teams or as individuals.

The Fun Atmosphere

What really made elementary school dances special was that they were such a fun atmosphere where everyone could be themselves without worrying about judgement or criticism from anyone else. We could just forget about all our worries for a few hours and just enjoy ourselves with our friends! It was an opportunity for us to express ourselves through music and dance and let out any pent-up energy we had accumulated during the week of school.

Elementary school dances are some of our most cherished childhood memories; they remind us of simpler times when life was carefree and full of joyous moments with friends that will live forever in our hearts. If you're feeling nostalgic for those days or want your kids to experience something similar, why not plan an old-fashioned elementary school dance? You can recreate all your favorite memories while making new ones with your family! No matter how old you are, it's always nice to take a break every now and then, turn up some good music, and have some fun—just like we did back then!  Make sure Black and White Affair is your Dj to make your  Elementary School event memorable.
