Santa Clarita 50th Birthday Bash: 90s R&B, Hip-Hop Vibes, and Fabulous Moments

This past weekend, Santa Clarita was the place to be as friends and family gathered to celebrate a fabulous 50th birthday bash that brought together old-school soul and new-school vibes. The event was filled with music, memories, and magic — a perfect tribute to five amazing decades!

From the start, the energy was high with classic 90s R&B tracks setting the tone — think Mary J. Blige, Boyz II Men, and R.Kelly. But the celebration didn’t stop there. The birthday girl’s daughters brought in the next generation of hits, adding some of today’s hottest hip-hop tracks to keep the younger crowd on their feet.

The night featured a couple of “shot times,” where everyone raised their glasses to toast to life, love, and 50 years of excellence. One of the most heartwarming moments was when the birthday queen handed out thoughtful gifts to fellow September babies in the room — a true display of her generous spirit.

As the party continued, all the men hit the dance floor for a fun and lively group groove, followed by the ladies taking over with even more energy and style. Later, the couples in attendance were invited to share a few slow songs together — a beautiful moment that added romance to an already magical night.

This Santa Clarita 50th birthday party was more than a celebration — it was a memory in the making. With the perfect mix of nostalgic tunes, modern hits, heartfelt moments, and non-stop dancing, it’s safe to say this milestone was celebrated in true style.

Looking to plan your own unforgettable birthday party in Santa Clarita? Take inspiration from this epic 50th and make it one for the books!

Latin Birthday Party In Morgan Hill (Bay Area Dj serving San Jose, Saratoga, Los Gatos, Mountain View, Milpitas, Sunnyvale and Morgan Hill)

We did this Birthday party in Morgan Hill a few years back. I actually did it myself and it was tons of fun. They invited all these other food vendors so it was a yummy event. All the latin ladies were dancing while their husbands sat down and chatted with one another. They did call me the following year last minute and we were not able to book us since we were already booked and they went with another dj. Then they called us again last minute and I was planning to do a Bay Area wedding with my dj but had my dj do the Latin event in Morgan Hill. I wanted to make sure we took care of our repeat customer.

What better Saturday to celebrate your birthday than Beautiful summer night in the Bay Area! Spacious backyard, tacos, refreshment, and a dance floor! Lets not forget to toss the ipod out and get a great dj with all the hits you need! 80s fun and new wave, as well as some crossover latino hits kept the dance floor filled from beginning to end, with a small break to eat some delicious tacos! Hits that made people stick the the dance floor include Many hits from Timbiriche (si No es Ahora Accelerar, and Mexico) to just name a few, Hips Don’t Lie- Shakira, On the Floor-Pitbull and Jlo, Bamboleo by the Gypsy Kings, Dancing Queen by Abba, and  Girls Just Want to Have Fun by Cindy Lauper!

Silent Disco in Los Angeles (Los Angeles DJ serving Burbank, Universal City, Santa Clarita, Brea, and Pasadena)

Not everyone can do Silent Disco. Most djs I have asked have never tried it and only seen it happen. A few actually own the gear. It is usually the bigger dj companies who do purchase the gear which can run from 3 to 5k. They have to buy the receivers and the head phones and the manuals it comes with. Or you can go through a rental company that can send it via mail and you can return it via mail. We have used two different companies and both the gear all worked the same.

What I recommend? Do I trust the djs who own the gear versus a dj who never has done it but you know they are good?

I am not saying big dj companies are bad but the quality of djs are a little different when it comes to smaller dj companies. I worked for a big company for a year and the djs were great people but they didn’t sleep, eat and drink dj life. A lot of them did not keep up with the latest music nor did they know about the latest gear. Out of the 8 djs maybe 2 can really mix like a club dj. With smaller companies, it is easier to make sure the djs are skilled. I worked clubs for years so I know how to quickly mix songs and get similar songs ready.  So my recommendation is get a dj that you know can get down and have them use the slient disco gear. Its easy to set up and it’s a higher chance they will rock it.

Morgan Hill Prom at Coyote Creek (Bay Area dj serving San Jose, Morgan Hill and Gilroy)

Right off the 101, south of San Jose is a great spot to throw an High School Event in the lovely town of Morgan Hill. Coyote creek golf course has a nice venue with semi- outdoor covered area! It would be an ideal place to throw an event in the warm months of the year. It is a nice place to have a prom. It had a wonderful view of the course and meadow!  I was speaking with the coordinator of the dance and she was worried about the playlist. Her last dj was not following the playlist that she told him that they would like. We made sure we got all the songs they  wanted and built on what they requested. We just don’t rely on their selection but we add songs that would go with the flow. Tj Williams (A Gilroy High School) students knew just how to have a good time with variety of music including top hits of the night Baby-Justin Bieber, I just Wanna Rock-Lil Uzi Vert, Payaso del Rodeo ( again),  Low-Flo rida , and Hotel Room- Pitbull. As the night had reached its end, people did not want to leave. High School students still surprise me and inspire me with their choice of classic dance songs.  It proves that good music never dies.

Silent Disco at Santa Clara University ( Bay Area Dj serving San Jose, Morgan Hill and Gilroy) (Los Angeles Dj serving Burbank, Glendale and Pasadena

They had an event at SCU and they asked if we can dj it. Of course we obliged. Then they mentioned we will be adding silent disco to our set up. We have seen it on Instagram but never had used it till this day. We brought our gear and set it up but didn’t not set up the speakers. Even though I knew we did not need speakers, I brought them for plan b but it worked perfectly so we didn’t need a back up plan

SCU put out all these headphones and we had a transmitter hooked up to our system. The headphones had 3 channels with each one with a selected color. It would be possible to set up 3 djs with 3 transmitters and listeners can decide which dj to listen to. There was no latency. If the dj scrathed But all we had today was one dj. We went with new hip hop and some reggaeton.

The rec center was separated into three areas. One for the silent disco, one for ping pong and corn hole and the last area to shoot hoops. People could get involved with the music and get involved in the other activities.

Silent disco is a cool concept. It seems to be way easier on the ears. One can adjust the volume of each headphone. One can do different activities while listening to headphone.

They had a cool 360 photo booth students were able to use.

SJSU Crab Feed ( A College and Alumni Party)

I am a proud SJSU alumni and I like to keep tabs on my school. I had an opportunity to play at a fundraiser. They were at first going to have a band and have me be the start of the night but that did not pan out. I did not get a special playlist but I was told to play appropriate music for the night. A lot of the time one would play background music during dinner time so the guests can be able to talk. Then the end, the dj would play the festive music at a louder volume to get everyone to the dance floor and keep them on the dance floor.

The venue was an Elks Lodge in San Jose. It was right off the 87 so it was really easy to go to. They do have a stage area for the dj and a huge dance floor.  I unloaded my gear and took it to the stage. They had the baseball and softball players there to help with the service of the food.

I knew the most of the crowd was going to be 30 and up. Also I knew the players were more about 20 years old.  So for the dinner portion of the night I was playing mellow familiar background music. All the players for both sports were introduced. Once they did all the auctions and the raffles it was time to pump up the volume. I went with the classic dance jams that all ages would enjoy.

Los Gatos Lodge Event (Birthday Party) ( Bay Area)

Did a birthday party on Saturday at the Los Gatos Lodge. This was an enjoyable party since the Birthday girl gave me songs that went through many generations. She had the music she grew up with and some current songs. She invited her family and friends to the celebration.

She did not want to give a speech but some folks gave speeches about her after dinner. Birthday girl was the first one on the dance floor and was dancing the whole night. It was definitely a good vibe that night and the dancing itch was in full effect. It did make the night go faster. It was a 6-hour event and cocktail and dinner only took two hours and the remaining 4 hours was straight dancing. We did not finish early and went straight to 11. I have to applaud the birthday girl and the guests who danced the night away. They were not teenagers but with their energy they seemed to be like them. I took all requests and even played some super new music then the guest realized we had to go back to the old school and we did go back to the old school. Because we know old school rules!

What birthday girl wanted was some up lighting.  She ordered 6 up lights and I spaced them around the room. Up lights do add some class to the room.

Staff was very nice and made sure I got to eat too. It was a quick set up and a quick close out. I was able to park in front of the venue and put everything away in my suv.
