Prom Songs With Latin Flavor | Bay Area Dj | Black & White Affair DJ

For those of us in California, it’s hard not to feel the Spanish influence—especially when prom rolls around. From Latin-inspired dance moves to delicious Mexican food catering, a California prom is nothing without a little bit of Spanish flair. And what better way to add a dash of culture than with some music? Here are some great Spanish songs that are sure to make your California prom feel like you’re partying in Spain!

“Mi Gente” by J Balvin and Willy William - This upbeat song packs the perfect punch for any prom playlist. With its contagious rhythm and bright guitar riffs, it's sure to get everyone on the dance floor. Plus, its upbeat lyrics will give your party a positive energy.

"Despacito" by Luis Fonsi ft. Daddy Yankee - No list would be complete without this classic bop! It has an infectious melody that will have everyone singing along and a beat that is irresistible for dancing. It’s no wonder why this song was one of 2017's biggest hits!

"Bailame" by Nacho - This upbeat pop track is sure to be a hit with your guests. Its summer-like vibes will get everyone grooving and singing along in no time. Plus, its message of self-confidence is great for building up your classmates’ spirits before they head off into the world post-prom.

"Pa' Que Me Invitan" by Ozuna - Perfect for those who want something more laid back but still lively enough to keep people moving and grooving on the dance floor. With its slow tempo and relaxed vibe, it's perfect for winding down after an exciting night of celebration at prom.

Whether you want something fast-paced or laid back, there are plenty of Spanish songs that are perfect for setting the tone at your California prom. These four tracks alone should ensure that your guests leave feeling like they just stepped out a latin party! So don't forget these songs when you're planning out your playlist—your classmates won't regret it!

DIY New Years Playlist and  Host responsibility  (Bay Area Dj serving San Jose, Morgan Hill, and Gilroy) (Los Angeles Dj serving Burbank, Glendale and Pasadena)

Some New Years parties are well planned out and sometimes they come last minute. Got to make sure you have a location then you have to secure the food.  Then once that is secure than its time to find the dj. What happens if a dj is not available on that busy night?  Then its possible to rent some gear to play your own playlist.

Some folks do not know where to start? What kind of music would be good to play? It all depends on your guest list. What ages are they? It’s a safe bet to go for pop rap and some dance music. If there is enough time, then get song requests from the guests. If you are using blue tooth for the playlist, then you can skip songs that are killing the energy or not happening for the moment.

Also you can get a app to help you with the countdown. If it’s a DIY party, then you can turn on the TV and you have the countdown do it for you. But If you are going   by your phone you   can turn off the music a minute before midnight. When Midnight strikes then you can cue   up

Auld Lang Syne. You can play it for a short period. Then the next song you play has to be one of the biggest hitters of the day. When I played NYE at clubs I would go with the best song of the year.  Everyone is a celebratory mood so your energy of music has to be high.

It is a big responsibility hosting NYE party. Its best to have a dj do it so as the host you can enjoy the party instead of being worried about being off in the counting.

Homecoming Near Downtown San Jose  2021 (San Jose, Milpitas, Morgan Hill)

Dances are back in 2021 after a year of not having any. Students are ready to party. Be prepared to have bigger turnouts than pre 2019 since people are really wanting to let loose.

Due to the weather the dance was up in the air. They had to wait for the weather then admin to approve it. But we ended up having it. Since everything was up in the air asb did not send me a song list. Usually asb gives me 60 to 100 songs of their liking then I add another 40 to 50 more based on what they gave me. I didn’t get any of their likes so I had to come up with my own list.

At the dance there was a long line with the photo booth. The dance started at 7 and went till 1000. It seemed like folks were shy then they broke out of their shell.

Songs that were big hits that night:

We Found Love

Give Me Everything Tonight

Love Sosa

Gas Pedal

Act Up

Shake the Monkey

Party in the USA

MY Type

Big Bank

Danza Kuduro

Best friend

Turn Down for What

 Blinding Lights

Cha Cha Slide

Cupid Shuffle

Yes, I do play line dances. Some djs think they are dumb to do but I don’t mind doing them since people like to do dances that have moves that go with them. I went hard at 815 till the last song of the night at 1000 since I didn’t want dance floor to give way. There were a lot of students there and they enjoyed the Spanish songs that we played and it definitely fed the energy in the crowd.

How much musical control to do you give to your dj?

The couple can pick the important songs such as the first dance song and cake cutting song and can trust the dj to play what he thinks would be good. Some couples can just give an outline and let the dj run free. Since some couples are super busy and would want to dj to do all the leg work. Other couples may incorporate a do not play list. Also, the couple can give a list of must play songs for the wedding. Dj would be able to incorporate those must play songs throughout the night.

The best weddings I have been a part of was when couples gave a list to the dj. Often times the couple does not know when to start. With my couples I give them a list of popular songs played at weddings. Music ranges from 80s to pop to jazz to rock. From the list, the couple would send their selections. The couple is also free to include songs that are not on that list. From the selections, the dj can continue the vibe of the event with the songs that they were given.

Also communicate is key with your dj so the dj can see what kind of music to be played at the wedding. The dj can use the playlist the couple gives them as the foundation and play songs that would fit in that category. Also, as a couple, it’s good to be specific with the music requests. An example would be if the couple wants old love songs but in reality, they wanted Motown.

In a nutshell, the couple should help the dj build a list and the dj uses that as the foundation.
